What is a Podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a specialist who focuses on the treatment of the foot and ankle.

We are the experts on foot and ankle care, and should be the very first doctor you call when you experience pain or other problems with them.  We help patients relieve or eliminate pain from Lees Summit, MO to Olathe, KS.

A doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM) is uniquely qualified by his or her education and training to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot and ankle.  Podiatrists have received medical education and training comparable to MDs and DOs.  We have four years of undergraduate education, four years of graduate education at one of eight accredited podiatric medical schools and two to four years of surgical residency and fellowship training.  When medically necessary, podiatrists perform surgery to correct or remedy problems.
