To repair a torn Achilles tendon, surgery may be necessary after the initial swelling is reduced, about a week after the tear occurs. During the repair surgery, the doctor cuts an incision above the heel on the back of the ankle in order to sew the tendon back together. The out-patient procedure is usually done under local anesthesia. Post-surgery, the patient wears a cast or walking boot for a month and a half to three months. The cast or boot is adjusted during the healing process from a downward pointing angle to a neutral position. Specific exercises and physical therapy are completed as part of the healing process to regain motion and strength.
I am a first time patient. I was very pleased with Dr. Green. I am impressed with the speed of the X-Rays. I am excited to try the orthotics, because the little heel inserts help so much! I came in hurting and spent a good portion of the day feeling a lot better. Dr. Green […]

I love that Dr. Jameson actually sat down with me, and we looked at the x-rays together. She pointed out everything I needed to see then circled the problem area and explained it so that I knew exactly what my problem was. She was very professional and knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend her to friends.
