Coming up with New Year’s Resolutions is easy. Keeping them has always been hard for me. But this year is going to be different. I’ve come to realize that by resolving my heel pain, my other two resolutions will fall into place.
This year’s New Year’s Resolutions:
- Get rid of my heel pain
- so I can… Lose weight
- so I can… Swing Dance Again
I was dreading the New Year because of my ongoing heel pain. Heel pain from the moment I get out of bed until the time my head reaches the pillow in the evening has been my excuse for gaining weight, putting off exercise, and avoiding the things I love. I even had to give up my Friday night swing dancing socials due to the pain.
I never got around to resolving my heel pain LAST year, but I am determined to put it 1st on my list THIS year. I know that if I resolve my heel pain, my other two resolutions can be reached in no time AND I will be happier overall.
Kansas City Foot & Ankle, here I come…
Plantar fasciitis is a very common cause of heel pain in children and adults alike. Heel pain is relatively easy to treat, as long as you partner with a podiatrist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of this condition.
The plantar fascia is a ligament that attaches to the heel bone and runs across the arch and can be painful if it becomes inflamed. This can occur due to various stresses. Stresses may be related to things such as flat feet or a poorly supported arch, overweight issues, or work habits. To solve heel pain, the inflammation must be reduced and the stresses must be resolved.
There are many treatment options including at-home stretching exercises, oral anti-inflammatory medications, arch supports, custom orthotics, cortisone injections, cryoanalgesia and musculoskeletal laser.
So…If you are suffering from heel pain, don’t wait! Swing into our office to see a specialist at Kansas City Foot and Ankle right away so that we can get rid of your heel pain. We will have you back to swing dancing or any other favorite activity that is on your New Year’s Resolution list in no time.
